When vampire hunters have to deal with a legendary crime boss.

Combining a criminal legend with vampire mythology, the new comic book mini-series Al Capone Vampire builds on the previous adventures of a team of vampire hunters in Pennsylvania. Written by J.C. Vaughn with art from Brendon Fraim and Brian Fraim, the story continues the epic saga in the Vampire, PA brand.

The Vampire, PA legend began with the 2009 horror short story anthology Vampires: Dracula and the Undead Legions. The second volume in the Moonstone Monsters series featured a number of vampire stories, including entries from L.A. Banks, Elaine Bergstrom, P.N. Elrod, C.J. Henderson, Nancy Kilpatrick, Paul Kupperberg, William Messner-Loebs, Martin Powell, and Dan Wickline.

Also in that book was a story from J.C. Vaughn, “Vampire Hunter Dean.”

That led to comic book adventures in VAMPIRE, PA (trade collection). As described on a Kickstarter page, Dean Marklin was fairly happy in his life as an above-average HVAC repair man in suburban Pittsburgh—until he learns that his hometown, Dormont, is infested with vampires.

What’s worse—from Dean’s perspective—is that it turns out that he’s very good at killing vampires. Now he’s trying to keep up with his day job, maintain a new relationship, and rid Dormont of the undead, particularly the seductive Jocelyn...

The original collection was followed by the one-shot VAMPIRE, PA: BITE OUT OF CRIME. The story continued and added the newly-returned Al Capone to the mix, forcing Dean and company into an uneasy truce with Jocelyn.

Which leads us to the newest story—AL CAPONE VAMPIRE. The original Scarface is back in a big way and the gangs of Chicago—and the other vampires—better look out! Also a problem: One of the vampire hunters got turned into a vampire herself. Can they find a cure for her? (Is that even possible?)

The original 2007 mini-series that put vampires on the Pennsylvania map is finally collected in trade paperback! Dean Marklin never believed in vampires until he was attacked by one. Now he’s more than a believer. He’s kept his day job as a HVAC repairman so he can afford to hunt vampires by night in the normally sleepy Pittsburgh suburb of Dormont (where there is a surprisingly large undead population).
