Dracula Drama ‘Brides’ To Star Gina Torres
Gina Torres has been lined up to star in ABC’s vampire soap The Brides, a Dracula re-imagining from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and producer Greg Berlanti. The Brides promises to be a family drama centered around three empowered, immortal women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy and their nontraditional family.
Torres will play Cleo Phillips, the leader of the brides of Dracula. A queen in her former life, Cleo is now a force in New York City real estate. She’s challenged professionally by a mysterious newcomer—even as her relationship with her sisters is strained.
Torres’ acting resume includes a number of great genre series, including roles on Angel, Firefly, and voicework for Justice League Unlimited, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. She has also acted on Suits, Pearson, Riverdale, The Catch, 24, and Hannibal.
Other cast members lined up for the pilot include Erin Richards (Gotham) and Katherine Reis (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) as the other brides, Goran Višnjić (ER and Timeless) as Dracula, plus Chris Mason and Sophia Tatum.
