Keaton says Beetlejuice 2 being made “exactly” like original

Horror comedy sequel is now in production! Details below…

Keaton calls it “the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in I can’t tell you how long.”

After all these years, Warner Bros. is finally making Beetlejuice 2, directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton. “We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie,” Keaton told Empire. “It’s so fun, it’s so great.” He said making the sequel is “the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in I can’t tell you how long.”

Other cast members from the original movie returning for the sequel include Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara. New cast members include Jenna Ortega (playing the daughter of Ryder’s character), Monica Bellucci (playing Beetlejuice’s wife), and Willem Dafoe (playing a security officer in the afterlife).

Beetlejuice 2 will appear on the big screen September 6, 2024. The sequel, now in production, was written by the creators of the Netflix Addams Family series, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

About the original Beetlejuice

The 1988 movie Beetlejuice told the story of a ghostly husband and wife trying to stop their  home from being completely remodeled by its new residents, and calling on the titular bio-exorcist.

Beetlejuice has gone on to inspire a cartoon TV show, video games, and a popular stage musical. There is even a cookbook on the way!

There was also the fun crossover when the cartoon version of Beetlejuice guest starred on the 2020 Teen Titans Go! episode “Ghost with the Most.” For this appearance, Beetlejuice was voiced by Alex Brightman, repeating his role from the Broadway musical.
