Marvel’s WandaVision, Loki Production Halted

Amid Coronavirus concerns, the pause button has been pressed for Marvel Studio’s shows currently in production for Disney+ including WandaVision, Loki, and Falcon and Winter Soldier. Shows in pre-production will continue working remotely. Marvel owner Disney had already halted production for all its live-action films, including Marvel’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings.

Marvel’s Disney+ series feature cast members from the films. WandaVision stars Elisabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff AKA The Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as The Vision. Loki stars Tom Hiddleston in the title role. Falcon and Winter Soldier will star Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in the title roles.

WandaVision is currently scheduled to premiere this December. (Subject to change, obviously.) Produced by Marvel Studios, WandaVision follows the events of Avengers: Endgame. It promises to point narratively toward the upcoming theatrical release Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, currently scheduled for release May 2021.

Loki is currently scheduled for early 2021. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, an alternate timeline version of Loki uses the Tesseract to travel through time and alter human history. Based on glimpses in the trailer, it’s assumed he runs afoul of and/or works with Marvel Comics’ Time Variance Authority.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is curently scheduled to premiere in August. Based on the Marvel Comics characters Sam Wilson AKA Falcon and Bucky Barnes AKA Winter Soldier, the events of the series take place after Avengers: Endgame. Now that Falcon has been handed the shield—and the mantle—of Captain America, he and Winter Soldier team-up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience.
