New from Michael Moorcock: 1930s mystery for fans of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who

In the alternate historical thriller The Albino’s Secret, these detectives are sent back in time to chase an assassin through the streets of Istanbul.

In the new novel The Albino’s Secret (Book #1 of Metatemporal Detectives), Detective Sir Seaton Begg and Doctor Sinclair have been sent undercover by Britain’s Temporal Agency to 1930s Istanbul. They’re assigned to hunt for the Red King, the leader of a secret group of assassins plotting to change the shape of the world.

But with Nazi forces also in Istanbul, Begg and Philips are thrust into a city that’s in transition from the ancient to the modern—and are hard pressed on all sides by assassins and betrayals…

Co-written by Michael Moorcock and Mark Hodder, The Albino’s Secret is a “Doctor Who-meets-Sherlock Holmes” alternate history thriller. A mash-up of fantasy, action, and adventure, this thriller is a must-read for those who revel in the thrill of the chase and the allure of the unknown.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Moorcock talked about how when he started writing these kinds of fiction, he wasn’t following any genre conventions—because, at the time, those rules did not even exist yet.

“When I first started writing it, nobody knew what to call it at all,” Moorcock told Screen Rant. “I mean, the publishers didn’t know what to call it. There really was nothing like an adult fantasy genre… Today’s experience is just totally different.”
