X-Files Uncovered in new comics in December!

The Truth is Out There—as writer Joe Harris returns with even more cases for Mulder and Scully to investigate each and every month…

Classic franchise The X-Files is returning to comics this winter, courtesy of Dynamite Entertainment and Disney Publishing Worldwide. These all-new tales will be written by Joe Harris—credited with having written more X-Files comic scripts than any other creator.

Longtime fans can look forward to more of Harris’s critically acclaimed take on the boundary-pushing, mind-bending science fiction that has long defined The X-Files. Beyond channeling the FBI's fabled agents, Harris is known for his copious contributions to Marvel, DC, and on Alice Cooper comics with Dynamite.

Harris remarks:

“The X-Files has always been sacred to me. From my own early TV fandom on Friday and Sunday nights to getting to work on one of the greatest supernatural thriller/science fiction franchises in history, the further adventures of Agents Mulder and Scully have occupied a very special place in my head and career. I am beyond honored to write them and I am absolutely over the moon to work with Dynamite on this new series.”

Joining him for this new era of unclassified tales taking place after the show is artist Riley Brown. The up-and-coming penciler makes this big splash following work on titles like Dead Acre: Black Badge. His versatile stylings are set to bring the latest scintillating sci-fi to the comics page.

The X-Files had an incredibly influential run on television through the 1990s and beyond, with two films, multiple revival seasons, and spinoffs. The franchise also has history in comic books, with its procedural conspiracy and monster-of-the-week style storytelling being a perfect match for this other medium.

Notes Dynamite CEO and publisher Nick Barrucci:

“The X-Files is the next jewel in the crown for us at Dynamite in working with Disney and entering 20th Century territories, hot on the heels of Kelly Thompson’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel epic. Multiple generations have loved following the cases of Mulder and Scully, and they translate absolutely perfectly to the format and serialized nature of comic books. We’re working to make sure longtime fans and newcomers will love the new stories, and can't wait to share more!”

The new comic book series picks up some time after the end of the original series finale. Agents Mulder and Scully return once more to the FBI’s X-Files division in the shadow of the loss of their child William, the presumed death of the Cigarette Smoking Man, and the cliffhanger ending of Scully being pregnant once more.

The shadows soon touch our heroes again as the conspiracy of a secret alien presence in the world is tracked down by both the duo and a mysterious organization seeking to harness it for their own purposes.

Added writer Harris:

“The X-Files only gets more relevant as the years go by and the government gets weirder and weirder, the UFOs become mainstream, and the trust in institutions, from the government on down, gets harder and harder to spare.”

To complement this mind-tingling tale from Harris and Brown, Dynamite announces the full range of enticing covers for the comic series. Artists Clayton Crain and Ivan Tao’s styles complement the eerie energy of the franchise.

In addition to Harris adding to his nearly 60 issues to date of The X-Files comics, another veteran is back with The Walking Dead superstar Charlie Adlard doing covers, following his breakout work with Sculder and Mully in the 1990s for comics originally published by Topps.

A special icon cover presents a classic mixed media image by Miran Kim from that same beloved era. Collectors can also opt for the exciting blind bag, filled with rare variants including an exclusive piece by superstar Martin Morazzo (The Deadman, Ice Cream Man).

The X-Files #1 will come out December 9. Readers are encouraged to preorder and add the comic series to their pull list at their local comic book store to keep up-to-date with all the new declassified files of Scully and Mulder!
